RESEARCH: Carol Vernalis's Theory

Carol Vernalis has observed that music videos use much more obvious editing. There are much more jump cuts and special effects are added to draw the attention of viewers.
A master shot (base track) is frequently used to give the video a structure and the camera often moves. All that is very often connected with the rhythm of the song.

An example of that is a video by Shakira for a song Rabiosa:
In this video the camera newer stops and at some points it moves with the rhythm of the songs. It has jump cuts every 0.5 - 1 second which go with the beat. It doesn't have any transitions between the shots which are rarely used in music videos.
